How to export citations, import them into reference managers, correctly attribute preprints in academic work, and understand how the platform's citation metadata infrastructure works.
Every paper on Expertini Research has a "📋 Cite" button on the paper page. Clicking it opens the Citation Exporter for that specific paper. Select your format and click Copy or Download.
You can also use the standalone Citation Exporter tool by entering any paper slug or DOI-style ID. No login required for either method.
We support four formats:
The exported citation includes all available metadata: title, author(s), year, repository name (Expertini Research), DOI (if assigned), and the paper URL.
The key rule: clearly identify it as a preprint. Here are example citations in the main formats:
APA:
MLA:
Chicago:
Always check whether a peer-reviewed version has been published before finalising your citation. If it has, cite the published version.
Two methods:
Method 1 — RIS import (most reliable): Export the citation in RIS format from the Citation Exporter. In Zotero: File → Import → select your downloaded .ris file → click "Import".
Method 2 — Browser extension (easiest): Install the Zotero Connector browser extension. When you visit a paper page on Expertini Research, the Zotero icon in your browser toolbar will detect the citation meta tags and offer to save the paper directly to your Zotero library.
Export the citation in RIS format from the Citation Exporter. Then:
Export the citation in RIS format from the Citation Exporter. In EndNote: File → Import → File → select your .ris file → set "Import Option" to RefMan RIS → click Import.
If the default RefMan RIS filter does not produce clean results, try the "Reference Manager (RIS)" filter instead.
Citation meta tags are HTML <meta> elements placed in the <head> section of a paper page. Google Scholar reads these tags to discover and index academic content. Without them, papers are not indexed as academic literature — they appear in regular web search results at best.
The standard tags include: citation_title, citation_author, citation_publication_date, citation_journal_title, citation_researcher, citation_abstract_html_url, citation_pdf_url, citation_keywords, citation_language, and citation_doi.
Every paper on Expertini Research has all applicable tags set automatically at publication. Use our Scholar Meta Preview tool to inspect the exact tags on any paper.
